Arlington, Texas - Curnutt & Hafer is pleased to announce that associate Daniel B. Mathis has been named to the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas. Created in 1992, the Pro Bono College recognizes those attorneys who have far exceeded the Texas State Bar's aspirational pro bono goal in their efforts to address the vast unmet legal needs of the poor by providing a significant number of hours of eligible pro bono service during the previous year.

"I understand that the Texas State Bar estimates that 75 percent of the legal needs of the poor are not being met," said Douglas R. Hafer, one of Curnutt & Hafer's managing partners. "Attorneys have an obligation and a duty to give back to community in which they live and work, and Kelly [Curnutt] and I are both extremely proud to support and encourage the pro bono services of the attorneys at our firm." Texas Lawyers Care provides special recognition to attorneys who provide 75 hours of legal services in a calendar year, at no fee and without expectation of fee, to persons of limited financial means; non profit, governmental or public services organizations, where the legal services are designed primarily to address the legal and other basic needs of persons of limited financial means; or organizations specifically designed to increase the availability of legal services to persons of limited financial means. Members who report such voluntary service will be eligible to become members of the Pro Bono College.
