Douglas R. Hafer Speaks at Energy Symposium

Arlington, Texas – Curnutt & Hafer, L.L.P. founding partner Douglas R. Hafer was a featured speaker at the Energy Symposium on April 16, 2010 at the Texas Wesleyan School of Law. The Energy Symposium, which was sponsored by XTO Energy, Inc., focused on energy-related issues in the areas of environmental, regulatory, and leasing, and included an update on related caselaw. Mr. Hafer’s presentation, entitled “A Practical Guide to Operator/Surface-Owner Disputes and the Current State of the Accommodation Doctrine,” provided the operator and practitioner with a survey of issues and practical pointers relevant in instances where the operator is seeking to enforce its rights under an oil and gas lease, including an overview of the accommodation doctrine. The materials presented by Mr. Hafer will form the basis of a paper co-authored with Curnutt & Hafer attorney Daniel B. Mathis that will appear in the upcoming Energy Symposium Journal published by the Texas Wesleyan Law Review.
